I want to try my hand at hip-hop music but am worried I’m gonna look like a wannabe.

Hello hip hop community of Reddit, I would like some insight. I had that the thought of trying to make hip hop music because while I am mainly a rock listener, I have been opening my eyes more to hip hop and I am growing to like it. The appeal of hip hop to me is that it feels more something I can do on my own whereas if I were to start a rock band I’d have to work with other people who may not be in it for the same reasons I am and what not. I don’t want to make this a career as I already have one, but I do want to put music out to express my creativity. My main concern is that I’m a 28-year old white male Canadian who is middle-class so I feel like that I do not have the right background for hip hop. I would never pretend to be who I’m not though and would not lie about being from the hood or being hard or anything, but I want to rap about things that matter to me such as gender issues, anti-lgbtq rhetoric, mental illness/suicide (which I have a history with), the impact of friendship and appreciating the people in your life, history, current issues, etc. My biggest influences are Eminem, NWA, the Beastie Boys, Kendrick Lamar, Hollywood Undead, Linkin Park, Biggie, Gorillaz and Ludacris (but I plan to listen to way more). What do you guys think?
