31 Mar Wes NiHil Discusses His ‘Wicked Life of Crime’ and More
I had the pleasure of catching up with Wes Nihil, an underground rapper hailing from New Jersey. Wes has captivated audiences across the world with his dynamic style, deep-rooted passion, and electrifying energy. Growing up in troubled neighborhoods during the 80s and 90s, it was no surprise that Wes found solace in the worlds of punk and Hip Hop, two genres that were born from struggle and served as forms of self-expression and community-building. Wes was heavily inspired by Naughty by Nature, Wu-Tang Clan, Cypress Hill, and specifically GZA’s “Liquid Swords,” which led him to start rapping. From performing on sidewalks as a young punk to becoming an accomplished hardcore frontman and rapper, Wes’s passion has carried him to great heights in the music industry…bruh is undeniable IMHO!
I caught up with Wes in the lab putting some touches on his upcoming project, and discussed his last EP Wicked Life of Crime which was executive produced by GRAMMY award winner, Alex Chiger (Don Cheegro) at his All The Smoke Studios. I should have been alerted when I found out Wes was tapping in from All The Smoke for the session, that he and the super producer were at it again. We got a bonus when the GRAMMY winner took a chair and joined us for the last portion of the conversation. His contribution brought some added depth and context to understanding how Wes impacts the people who have a chance to connect with his music.
Of course, we hit the usual suspects but took it beyond the music and that made for a super valuable conversation…Tune in below!
Wes just dropped a brand new single entitled Ridin’ With Ya, with Shiner Hymes and Krohme…it’s heavy…Hip Hop.
