what does gunna know that we don’t
i don’t have anything to say about the album yet but today i learned that dude’s real name is sergio giavanni kitchens and he chose to go by gunna/wunna? mans could have had a rockstar name smh
They spelled Roddy’s name wrong on Spotify lmao
Travis verse is actually good. But the beat on Top Floor sounds like they competely just recycled the beat from Hot

You can definitely hear the influence of his neighborhood and childhood friends on it
I’m biased cuz I fuck with the entire YSL crew’s music but this was a REALLY enjoyable album. If you aren’t a Gunna fan, this album isn’t groundbreaking and won’t change your mind but as someone who likes his shit, I’m thoroughly satisfied.
Drip or Drown 2 was in my top 10 most played albums last year and this is definitely an improvement, just ahead of DS3 as Gunna’s best project. Like DoD2 there are barely any skips – ‘Addys’, ‘Wunna’ and ‘Don’t Play Around’ haven’t made it onto my playlist.
One of Gunna’s main criticisms is ‘he doesn’t really do anything different’ but there’s plenty of innovation here. I love how he sampled his own song ‘outstanding’ on ‘MOTW’. His switch up of flows on ‘Gimmick’ is ridiculous. The beat switch on ‘Nasty Girls’ is actually well thought through instead of abrupt.
A lot of it is driven by the remarkably good production. As the trap sound gets more stale, Wheezy’s beats, at least for Gunna, are refreshing. ‘Argentina’, ‘Rockstar Bikers and Chains’ and ‘Nasty Girl/On Camera’ were some of my favourite beats.
Decent features, don’t hear people talking about it but Thugga absolutely MURDERED ‘Far’. Roddy did his thing and Travis with the high pitch autotune never misses.
Gunna is arguably the best in ‘decent’ rappers tier. He’s not great or superstar material but his rhyme schemes, flow and delivery is exceptional. Lots of trap rappers – Rich the Kid, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Nav seem to make albums with random bunch of tracks thrown together but with DoD2 and this, there’s a resemblance of direction. He’s diversified his sound, next he needs to actually add substance to his vocals cuz HOLY SHIT the guy doesn’t really say anything meaningful at all.
Fav tracks: Dollaz on My Head, Gimmick, Nasty Girls/On Camera, Rockstar Bikers and Chains, Met Gala, Do Better
As someone who wasn’t a fan of Gunna before and found Drip or Drown 2 trash, I actually loved this album. His changed his cadence on this album way more than in DoD2 in which i found his voice drab and monotone and even though he didn’t experiment with the flow too much, he made subtle changes which kept me interested. Fucking love the way he slid over the beats as well. Was smooth as hell.
Loved the tropical summery vibe of the album too and a lot of credit has to go to the producers on this thing because the something about the album just felt aesthetically pleasing.
Couple things I think could’ve been better were that there were songs on the album that didn’t really fit the theme. Tracks like Rockstar Bikers and Chains and Top Floor are great but they don’t really fit the album aesthetically. He could’ve added those as a deluxe or something. Also I’d love to see a bit more experimentation. Most tracks on this album are in his lane which isn’t so bad but maybe in the future we could get some progression. Would love to see maybe an R&B Gunna since he has a smooth ass voice. I think it could fit well.
Favourite tracks on first listen were argentina, motw, dollaz on my head, skybox, met gala, nasty girl/on camera, Top floor (as an individual track) and Cooler than a Bitch
