22 Jan POET LAUREATE AMANDA GORMAN’S BEST-SELLING CHILDREN’S BOOK IS AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER
Amanda Gorman is a best-selling author and her books haven’t even been released yet!
The first youth Poet Laureate has become a household name overnight, skyrocketing her books, “The Hill We Climb: Poems” and children’s book, “Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem” to the No. 1 & No. 2 slots on Amazon’s Best Seller List.
The 22-year-old writer posted on Twitter, “I AM ON THE FLOOR MY BOOKS ARE #1 & #2 ON AMAZON AFTER 1 DAY! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me and my words. As Yeats put it: “For words alone are certain good: Sing, then.”
The Los Angeles native made history when she became the first youth Poet Laureate to perform at an inauguration. Her powerful poem challenged Americans to, “leave behind a country better than the one we were left.”
Gorman humbly posted about her excitement on Instagram, “WHAT AN HONOR to be the Inaugural Poet of 2021. I am so excited to be joining our next President and Vice President @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris for #Inauguration2021!”
According to her bio on her official website, in addition to being the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, Gorman graduated cum laude from Harvard University, where she studied Sociology. The amazingly talented writer has written for the New York Times.
Gorman began writing at a young age. Her words won her invitations to the Obama White House and to perform for Lin-Manuel Miranda, Al Gore, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Malala Yousafzai, among others. Gorman has performed multiple commissioned poems for CBS This Morning. Additionally, she has spoken at events and venues across the country, including the Library of Congress and Lincoln Center.
