DaniLeigh Responds to Controversy Over ‘Yellow Bone’ Song

DaniLeigh is coming under fire for her new song “Yellow Bone.”

On Thursday (Jan. 21), the “Lil Bebe” singer shared a snippet of the track on Instagram. “Yellow bone, that’s what he want,” she sings in the clip while donning a blonde Marilyn Monroe-inspired hairstyle.

But the song was not well received, with many fans calling her out and accusing her of promoting colorism. “DaniLeigh lost me with that ‘Yellow Bone’ song,” tweeted one fan. “Yall still makin songs that enforce colorism and fetishization of light skinned ppl in 2021?”

In the comments, the 26-year-old Dominican singer responded to the controversy. “Why I can’t make a song for my light skin baddies??” she wrote. “Why y’all think I’m hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types… Why y’all so sensitive & take it personal… Gahhhh damn.”

Taking to Twitter, DaBaby’s girlfriend continued to defend herself. “Congratulations y’all gotta another thing to say about me when u hate … it’s all good,” she tweeted. “Only God can ‘cancel’ me… that shit don’t mean shit to me bc the people around me are the ones that know my heart and intention and real life … I’m sorry if I offended u.”

Amid the growing backlash, she added, “Ima keep letting God bless me .. while y’all sit back and judge me && sit behind y’all lil phones and type shit about another woman .. y’all all HATERS.”
