Man From Viral Photo Shown Sitting Inside The U.S. Capitol At Nancy Pelosi’s Desk Has Officially Been Arrested

Roommates, the man in the viral photo shown with his feet on Nancy Pelosi’s desk after breaking into the U.S. Capitol, has been arrested and identified as Richard Barnett of Gravette, Arkansas. Barnett’s arrest comes less than 48 hours after he proudly posed in Pelosi’s office and left a threatening message on her desk.

Richard Barnett, the man photographed casually sitting with his foot on a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office at the U.S. Capitol, as a pro-Trump mob rampaged the halls of Congress, has officially been arrested, according to law enforcement officials.

Barnett, 60, of Gravette, Arkansas, was taken into custody in his home state on federal charges of entering and remaining on restricted grounds, violent entry and theft of public property, as confirmed by a Department of Justice official.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Arkansas stated that Barnett was arrested earlier today and he’s being held in the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, awaiting his initial appearance.

Images of Barnett were shared repeatedly across social media as the deadly mayhem unfolded in the nation’s capital as Democratic and Republican lawmakers convened to count the Electoral College votes.
