08 Jan House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Says Congress May Be Prepared To Move Forward With Impeaching President Trump
Today House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for President Donald Trump’s immediate removal following the Capitol’s breach by Trump supporters yesterday. In a press conference that aired on ABC News, Nancy demanded Vice President Mike Pence to immediately invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump for what she called “inciting sedition.” Nancy threatened to start impeachment proceedings if Pence disagrees.
Nancy said, “I join the Senate Democratic leader calling on the Vice President to remove this President by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment. If the Vice President and Cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment. That is the overwhelming sentiment of my caucus — and the American people, by the way.”
She continued, “I don’t think it will take long to get an answer from the Vice President. It will be yes, or it will be no. And then we’ll see. So, again, we’ll review what our options are in terms of the 25th Amendment … If he wants to be unique and be doubly-impeached. That’s kind of up to him and his Cabinet as to whether he should stay in office.”
Nancy also mentioned that President Trump is “a very dangerous person,” and that the matter is very urgent. She said, “This is an emergency of the highest magnitude.”
Many Roommates commented on Nancy’s speech. One commented, “It’s not too late for impeachment. If he gets impeached before the end of his term, he can’t run again. Impeachment for 500 Alex.” Another commented, “Invoke the 25th to free us from all this hell.”
