06 Jan Trump Supporters Make Their Way Inside The Capitol Building (Photos)
On Wednesday, Donald Trump’s supporters breached the US Capitol as lawmakers were finalizing the Electoral College votes that would make the results of the 2020 presidential election official.
Elijah Schaffer tweeted, “BREAKING: Trump supporters have breached the Capitol building, tearing down 4 layers of security fencing and are attempting to occupy the building–fighting federal police who are overrun.”
Hundreds of protestors gathered around the perimeter of the Capital and proceeded to push through barriers, while tussling with officers in full riot gear. About 90 minutes later, police said demonstrators got into the building and the doors to the House and Senate were being locked. Shortly after, the House floor was evacuated by police, CNN also reports.
In the photos and videos circulating social media, many of the protesters have guns. They’re also taking selfies in the Capitol and holding flags that read, “Trump is my president.”
This is a developing story.
