On Christmas, Playboi Carti finally put out his highly anticipated ‘Whole Lotta Red’ album. This project contains 24 tracks with features from Future, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi. There were many negative reactions to the album in the first few hours of its release, though. Despite this, Whole Lotta Red had a huge first week in sales.

According to Chart Data, Whole Lotta Red is now the No. 1 album in the country on the Billboard 200 chart and the first No. 1 of 2021. It sold 100,000 units in its first week and also racked up 126.43 million streams. Behind Carti is Taylor Swift with her ‘Evermore’ album, which did 71,000 copies in its second week. This was her second No. 1 album of 2020 and her second of that year overall.

Carti also dealt with some drama the night that Whole Lotta Red was released. His ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Iggy Azalea, called him out on Twitter. This was due to Carti ditching her and their son on Christmas to supposedly go to an album release party with the woman he cheated on Azalea with during her pregnancy. She added that Carti missed the birth of their son to play PlayStation with Lil Uzi Vert in Philadelphia. Iggy did reveal that the two fixed things after the public outburst by her on Twitter, though.
