Pop Smoke has posthumously become one of the biggest starts in hip-hop in 2020. In February, he was tragically shot and killed in a Hollywood Hills, CA mansion owned by former ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ star, Teddi Mellencamp, and her husband, Edwin Arroyave. Four suspects have since been charged for the murder.

12 days before Smoke’s passing he released his ‘Meet The Woo 2‘ mixtape which made a lot of noise on social media. His estate then went on to release his highly anticipated debut album, ‘Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon,’ on July 3. That project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has since been certified platinum.

Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart again in October and was also nominated for the 2021 GRAMMYs in the Best Rap Performance category last month. Now, the album has officially reached 2x platinum status by the RIAA in the US. This is after selling 2 million units.

This album has a myriad of hit records such as “For The Night” feat. DaBaby and Lil Baby, as well as “Mood Swings” feat. Lil Tjay. Both of these have also gone platinum. Other fan-favorites include “Something Special” and “What You Know Bout Love.”
