I’ve never been into hip-hop, and it’s not something I expected my daughter to like, especially considering she comes from a rural Christian home and has a father who’s never listened to it. When I first found out she was into hip-hop, I was upset and admittedly jumped to the stereotype of it being ghetto or dangerous. However, I don’t want to be judgmental or close-minded.

As someone new to this, I’m asking for advice on how to approach my daughter’s interest in hip-hop. How should I handle this situation in a way that’s understanding and respectful? What steps can I take to address my concerns without being overly critical or stifling her individuality?
