[DISCUSSION] Rick Ross – Hood Billionaire (10 Years Later)

The Carol City rapper released his seventh album on November 24th, 2014, via Maybach Music Group, Slip-n-Slide Records and Def Jam Recordings. It was his second album released in 2014, following the March release of Masterpiece.

The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 74,444 copies in the United States. At the time, this meant the lowest first-week sales of Rick Ross’ career and a 50% decrease in sales compared to Mastermind (179,000 copies in its first week).

What do you think of the decision to follow up Masterpiece with a second album within the same year? Does it make Hood Billionaire seem like leftovers or an opportunity to try entirely new styles?
