29 Sep Wale Tour VIP Meet & Greet is a complete SCAM
Let me start out by saying I have done a good bit of VIP Meet and Greets with other bands and artists. They are all a bit different and some are better than others, but I’ve never walked away feeling absolutely scammed.
The email said we would have a signed VIP laminate and also a special gift from Wale. There were about 50 of us, which isn’t that many for a VIP event. When they let us in they handed us a laminate that was not signed, and also a poster. The poster didn’t have any type of holder or rubber band to even keep it intact. When we got in they gave us these headphones to listen to his new music coming out on his upcoming album and that was pretty cool. We all just kind of stood around and were able to get drinks and food while we listened and waited around. There was a merch booth available to get the early merch.
There was a tour VIP manager there who seemed to be running the show. I went up and asked if he was going to be signing anything. His response was “if you get some some merch, he’s more inclined to sign it”. I was thinking there was a vinyl or cd to buy that he would sign and I was ok with that and understood. When I went up to the merch, it was just 4 shirts and a hoodie… clearly they just wanted us to buy merch. I also had asked him if they would have markers for him to sign stuff and he said they would have them available.
Wale finally comes out and they put this stool out for him to do the Q&A. They only took a few questions and it literally only lasted under 15-20 minutes. It was very rushed and he didn’t even act like he wanted to be there. When the Q&A was over they made everyone split in 2 groups and made half of the people take a group photo with him and the other half on the next. There wasn’t even any individual photos with him, it was with 25 other people. You couldn’t even get near him at all, esp with his security guy being a dick the entire time. When they took the photos they were trying to get him out of there. There wasn’t any type of him doing at signing. This guy had a sharpie who had went up to him to signed his shoe, and I asked if I could borrow it after he had used it. He gave it to me and I got up to Wale fast and he signed my poster on his way out.
If it wasn’t for that guy to give me that sharpie I wouldn’t have had anything signed. I literally had to chase him down to get something signed, when it was advertised in the email that we would have something. If you were going to do this, it’s a complete scam. Whoever is running these or his management is absolutely terrible.
