[DISCUSSION] Beanie Sigel – The Broad Street Bully (15 Years Later)

The Philadelphia State Property rapper released his fifth solo album on September 1st, 2009, via the Bay Area based independent label Siccness.net.

His first album after leaving Roc-A-Fella Records, the project was promoted as a mixtape. After its release, Sigel was prepared to record and release an album called “The Closure” for G-Unit/Universal, which was cancelled by Sigel.

Tracklist:

Beanie Why Wouldn’t I Tear Drops Where’s My Opponent (Ft. Freeway & Omillio Sparks) Ready for War (Ft. Freeway & Young Chris) All for It Sicker Than Your Average (Ft. Freeway) Run to the Roc (Ft. Omillio Sparks & Young Chris) Bang Bang (Ft. Murda Mil) Return of The Chain Gang (Ft. Young Chris) You Over Did It (Ft. Murda Mil & Young Chris) The Ghetto

Discussion:

Is Beanie a “what if?” with a career limited by getting wound up in numerous legal issues and the turmoil at Roc-A-Fella at the time or did he live up to his potential on the earlier albums?

Were mixtapes from Siccness.net available to download for free, like the pitchfork review of this album suggests?
