Fat Joe reveals the real reason behind nickname

Celebrities are famous for a variety of reasons, including their unique names. New York rapper Fat Joe, is notorious for his straightforward stage name and for his neighborhood nickname. Throughout his music and songs he would often announce himself as Joey Crack. Fans speculated for years the name was in reference to Fat Joe dealing in illegal activities prior to fame. However, Fat Joe revealed to fans via Twitter the meaning behind his name.

 

 

In the late 90’s and 2000’s Fat Joe was making huge moves in the rap world. Pushing the East Coast into the mainstream lane, he founded the rap group Terror Squad during the end of the 90’s. Creating a label of the same name, Fat Joe discovered and signed fellow New York artist Big Pun, Remy May, Tony Sunshine and Cuban Link. Fat Joe is also known for mega hits like “What’s Luv” ft Ashanti and Ja Rule, “Lean Back,” with Terror Squad and “All The Way Up,” featuring Remy Ma and French Montana.

Although Fat Joe hasn’t topped the charts recently, his list of classic hits keeps him booked frequently for shows. Aside from music his unpredictable personality is just as entertaining.
