May Calamawy & Laith Nakli On The Third Season Of Acclaimed Hulu Series “Ramy” & More

Golden Globe Award-winning actor Ramy Youssef returns to Hulu for his critically-acclaimed performance in the Hulu Original comedy series Ramy. The series follows first-generation, Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan (played by Youssef) and his family as they navigate spirituality in their politically-divided New Jersey neighborhood. Ramy continues to bring a new perspective to the screen as it explores the challenges of what it is like to be caught between a religious community who believes life is a moral test, and a millennial generation that doubts an afterlife even exists.

Within the third season of the Peabody Award-winning series, Ramy’s family is forced to confront having lived a life dedicated to worldly concerns — and in some cases, lies — while Ramy all but abandons his spiritual journey, instead of dedicating himself to him and his uncle’s diamond business. Besides Youssef, the series stars Laith Nakli, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, Dave Merheje, Mohammed Amer and Steve Way. Ramy is written, directed, executive-produced and created by Youssef, while its other executive producers include Adel Kamal, A24, Christopher Storer, Tyson Bidner, Amir Sulaiman, Jerrod Carmichael, co-creators Ari Katcher and Ryan Welch, and Kate Thulin.

On September 21, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ramy stars Laith Nakli and May Calamawy via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Ramy — which premieres all 10 of its new season’s episodes via Hulu on September 30, 2022 — and its stars can be found online by clicking here, here and here.
