05 Aug Baltimore’s Empress Shontel Greene Evolves From Former American Gangster to Entrepreneur and Feature on BET’s Series ‘Trap Queens’
Shontel Greene, known as Baltimore’s empress, is now featured on BET’s series “Trap Queens,” documenting her story as a former American Gangster (Drug dealer). Greene overcame a difficult and traumatic childhood to become a woman of excellence and one of America’s most successful business owners.
The childhood days of Shontel Greene until the tender age of 14 was filled with hardship and trauma. At a young age, she took the burden of her family; thus, she was focused on making money. Even though her mother was a hard-working nurse, she later got addicted to drugs. Her intravenous use of drugs made her sick, and she died of AIDS. All these made Shontel Greene’s life hard for her to manage; thus, she opted for the dope game. She thought it was the best way to earn money easily to manage her financial situation. Faced with a $3,000 eviction notice, determined to save her mother and her home and maintain her studies, no other option was available for her.
After multiple arrests, a dangerous doping game where she became subject to robberies, getting shot, kidnapped, and facing a lot of other troubles, she finally got to the realization that education is more important. Greene started to focus on her studies, later earning two master’s degrees and a doctorate in nursing practice. Apart from all other businesses which are grossing millions annually, she also started Nursez R Us, which has now become one of the largest healthcare employers in Maryland. Greene has now become a role model for many youngsters with goals and aspirations, especially those with an upbringing of struggle like hers. Shontel is set to release details of her journey in her publication “Mastermind” later this year, and her goal is to share her story and be an inspiration to all.
