Madlib appreciation post

What a prolific producer. His diverse body of work remains unrivaled. Ever since I heard The Further Adventures of Lord Quas I sought after other projects like Lootpack, Jaylib, Madvillain, and Ode to the Ghetto with Guilty Simpson. Whenever digging into new genres I constantly stumble upon music he’s sampled. Obviously a lot of blue note jazz, but also Mothers of Invention, Captain Beefheart, and Fela Kuti to name a few. I’ve grown distant from hip hop as of late but still picked up Piñata and Bandana. Sometimes I’ll just cycle through Beat Konducta albums at work. He holds an almost mythic status I can’t really equate to any other up and comer. Who else is in this vein?
