22 Jan NLE Choppa Pays Tribute to Tupac in ‘Picture Me Grapin’ Video
Thug life. NLE Choppa pays homage to Tupac Shakur in the video for “Picture Me Grapin’” off his mixtape From Dark to Light.
The throwback visual, directed by Ben Marc, was inspired by the West Coast legend’s All Eyez On Me classic “Picture Me Rollin’.” NLE channels Pac with a shaved head while reenacting scenes from his iconic music videos. The 18-year-old rapper throws a wild house party straight out of a ’90s video and cruises through L.A. in a purple old school low-rider.
NLE also teamed up with famed designer Karl Kani to recreate iconic 2Pac images, including shots with the “Thug Life” overalls and navy blue Karl Kani hooded sweatshirt.
“Picture Me Grapin” appears on NLE’s project From Dark to Light, which dropped in November.
But this may be his last video for a while. He took to Twitter to vent his frustrations with his business partners. “Not signed to a label I have a partnership with APG and Warner for my label No Love Entertainment,” he tweeted. “Since they aren’t moving like partners I won’t be doing anything else I have creative control to do this so I will be using my creativity when I know everyone’s on board.”
