21 Jan Lil Wayne Drops New Song ‘Ain’t Got Time’
Just hours after being pardoned by Donald Trump, Lil Wayne is celebrating with new music.
On Thursday, the Young Money rapper unleashed his new song “Ain’t Got Time.” On the Fousheé-assisted track, he opens up about his arrest on federal weapons charges. Federal agents searched Wayne’s private jet during his December 2019 trip from Los Angeles to Miami and discovered a .45-caliber handgun.
“The feds, they hot on us, 100 on the thermometer / They raided my private plane / I went got one that’s more privater,” raps Tunechi before asking, “FBI arrest me, why? / They can’t nail mе so they just screwin’ me / I just try, try to hidе / Sometimes it’s hard to find time to be the good guy and still be someone.”
He also pays homage to the late Juice WRLD: “R.I.P. Juice WRLD, wrote that on two cups / Cuz pour out a lil’ juice for him, shit gave me goosebumps / Ni**a been through too much, lookin’ in the rearview to see the future.”
Wayne was among the 143 pardons and commutations issued by Donald Trump in the final hours of his presidency. He was facing a 10-year sentence after pleading guilty to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon, but he won’t be going to prison after the presidential pardon. Taking to Twitter, he thanked Trump and his lawyer Bradford Cohen who advocated on his behalf.
“I want to thank President Trump for recognizing that I have so much more to give to my family, my art, and my community,” he tweeted. “I also want to thank
@bradfordcohen for working so diligently to secure another chance for me. Love!”
Wayne met with the president and publicly tweeted his support for him prior to the 2020 election. But according to his lawyer, his controversial endorsement was not done with the promise of a pardon.
I want to thank President Trump for recognizing that I have so much more to give to my family, my art, and my community. I also want to thank @bradfordcohen for working so diligently to secure another chance for me. Love!
