Every December 1, it is World AIDS Day, but this is something that often goes overlooked. However, given the current health pandemic, it is important to look at all of the world’s health issues. In the 1970s, the HIV/AIDS virus began to run rampant, becoming serious in the 1980s.

Since the 1990s, more research has gone into learning more about the HIV/AIDS virus. No longer is such a diagnosis a death sentence and there are even some cures for the HIV virus. While so much has been learned, there is still so much more to learn, and farther to go.

Today is World AIDS Day and this is the 32nd anniversary. This year, the theme is “Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact.” Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of countries reporting disruptions of HIV services is down 75%, since June, thanks to the work of health care and community workers.
